If there was an award for procrastination, I’m pretty sure I’d be a title holder… I am able to talk myself into putting off anything and everything for the longest possible amount of time. It’s a gift. Sadly, not a gift that I am proud of.
It’s ironic. I am a Fitness Instructor so, my job is to motivate people to take their time and energy and apply it towards bettering their mind and body. I get paid to help encourage diligence and dedication. But when it comes to propelling myself in the right direction: I hit snooze at least three times before hurling myself outta bed. Hell, I even got up and starting doing my hair, ate a cookie and made a playlist on iTunes in the middle of writing this post!
I try to incorporate yoga into my life at least two or three times a week. I find myself dedicating my practice to the same principle every time – FOCUS. For all the things I find myself thinking “I wish I had more time…” or “if only I had done this…” Really, I have no one to blame but myself. There’s a saying that you most likely have heard before: if you really want to do something, you will. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse. Period. The end.
I think it’s important to remind ourselves of what we want and why we want it. That, my friends, is the root of all motivation. If you want something and you don’t know why… then you probably don’t really want it. If you do, chances are you will make time and find a way to get it/do it/make it happen. And if you know you want something but find yourself stuck on the “why” part, figuring it out will usually lead to a way to bring it to fruition.
So, let’s do this together. Let’s figure out what we want and why we want it and then go get it! No more excuses. No more procrastinating. Every second passed is a second lost. No time like the present. Let’s do this!
